Are You A Techie?
If you are are not tech savvy then I highly suggest you start learning, and fast.
If you are are not tech savvy then I highly suggest you start learning, and learning fast. There are seismic shifts happening in the real estate industry that will affect the way agents have traditionally marketed their property listings. No longer is it enough to mail out flyers to your target community or put your name on a bus bench. We live in a highly interactive world and your millenials and up-and-coming clients relate to this world much more than you may realize. It’s time to up your game.
There are several methods to develop your newfound savviness, but today I will be talking about just one – visual marketing through videography. To keep things simple, I’ll go through three things you absolutely need to get familiar with and start doing right away. I know some of you have begun this process already (fingers crossed) and many of you are already well on your way. No matter the point in your progress, these keys are a great reminder of what is necessary for success in this area of visual marketing.
Did you know that when you put the word video within your subject line you get an average of 28% click rate increase?
TECH TO DO
- Lean to Become Interactive with Your Media. What I mean by this is to train yourself to become more of an on-camera personality. By doing so you will be able to increase your relatability with clients and colleagues. You can begin by simply speaking into the mirror. Yes, you will look crazy and may feel a bit awkward, but start pitching your brand to yourself. You need to believe in what you do 100% and know your pitch forward and backward. I have filmed many, many people and I assure you that practice makes perfect.
- Apply Your On-Camera Personality to a Variety of Videos. How I suggest you begin the process? Send an email out with a short, professionally produced video about who you are and why you are uniquely qualified to your seller/buyer prior to an appointment. You could also include in the video visually appealing content of the community you represent, on camera testimonials from past clients and/or partners, and of course your sunny personality pumping up just how amazing you are. This will absolutely help set you apart from the competition. Plus, you will be able to use this video in multiple ways (i.e. website, social media and more emails).
- Take Your Videos the Next Level with Social Media. The very first thing to do in this area is determine what platform you want to use. I personally recommend Instagram and Instagram Stories, but as you know there is Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, Houzz, Pinterest, and on and on… Pick one and master it. Utilize Google to read and watch tutorials about your chosen platform. Learn the purpose of hashtags, live video streaming, products to use to stabilize your camera, etc. Find the fun in your research with this and enjoy the ride. The other major thing is to separate your business from your personal. In other words, stay away from politics, religion, and what your latest candy crush score was. It is all about your Brand and how you want to be perceived in business. There is a science to this and it can be tricky, but long story short, have fun, be creative, show your personality and keep it classy.
